Mary Cassat's, The Cup of Tea, is a good example of the wealth and success of Impressionism. Leisure tea-time suggests the sitter was successful. Her wealth is told in her fancy dress. The pastel coloring and whimsical brushstrokes create a dreamlike effect. A look of contentment on her face and a show of etiquette in her raised pinkie, raising the bar for Impressionism.
