This is among one of my all-time favorite paintings. It's so dynamic: her right hand hovering in mid-air, the way she's leaning out as if looking around a canvas towards her subject, even just her pendant hanging from the chain. Another thing I love is the vibrancy of the green dress, the way the light catches the cloth. None of Artemisia's other works caught my eye quite like this one did when I first saw it.
