The article started off well but sadly it turned into the same old critique of 19th century work. Time and time again , critics feel the need to critique 19th century work through the a prism of modernist thought. The very meaning of the work and imagery is often distorted by the critic who assigns some a bizarre theory about the motives behind the work. Rather than accept that the artist created the work because he was inspired and enjoyed creating something. This is what artist do, folks. I do find it interesting that art critics who say things such as
